I'm down to the last copies of the KYLESA "110 Degree Heat Index" 7". There's copies left on Purple and Bone white vinyl. As I've mentioned before I Don;t think I'll be re-pressing much of the old Catalog in the immediate future as the tendency in records now is increasingly towards the immediately new or the long gone collectibles, and a lot of the prank catalog sits somewhere in the somewhat difficult spot in the middle of that. We were very lucky to have Pushead do the cover for this record, with it;'s deluxe foil stamped packaging!

THis is such a Great Video of Morpheme at this Year's Chaos in Tejas, they were mayhem!

ACEPHALIX "APORIA" MRR REVIEW

ACEPHALIX – “Aporia” LP
I’ve been seeing ACEPHALIX play since their very first gigs, and they’ve never stopped evolving over the years that they’ve been active. They’ve come a long way from their early NYHC-meets-peace punk sound, and this masterful LP is a new peak for the band. It’s very appropriate that Prank released this album, because there are definite hints of earlier Prank bands like HIS HERO IS GONE and DAMAD in the ACEPHALIX sound, though there are many other influences in the mix as well. Chief among them is the dash of “Humanity Is The Devil”-era INTEGRITY and vintage CRO-MAGS heard in the metallic crunch of the riffs and the unabashed embrace of guitar solos. In fact, this record is just shy of being a full-on metal record (double kicks and all), though one that is fundamentally rooted in punk. That being said, most metal bands don’t have the kind of tortured, nakedly personal (and occasionally deeply psycho-sexual) lyrics that grace this record. Seriously, the harshness and honesty of Dan’s vocals and lyrics are an integral part of what ACEPHALIX work as a band. All gushing aside, there are a few tracks that don’t quite work for me on the record (the instrumental being the primary offender) but taken as a whole I can’t think of another recent release in the metal-punk genre that is nearly as creative or as engaging as this. This is the soundtrack to your next suicide party. (AU)

Pure savagery! A five song 12" EP that fires a punishing volley of metallic riffs, explosive drumming and gravel-raked vocals, Tokyo's long running hardcore band CROW alternate between a long One track A-side of thundering dirge and a B-side of four tracks of unleashed, non stop hardcore fury. Issued in Japan in 2008 on CROW's own Crow records label, this received miniscule distribution stateside and has absolutely Burly cut'n'paste cover art by Crow's Vocalist, so was re-issued as a deluxe 12" picture disc for their recent U.S. Shows and appearance at Austin, Texas's "CHAOS IN TEJAS" festival. Marking the 2010 summer U.S. tour of Austin, Texas's WORLD BURNS TO DEATH and Sapporo, Japan's veteran hardcore band SLANG, this EP combines two guitar driven blasts of hardcore fury. Thundering deeper into epic, mid-tempo territory on the A-side with Crow's trademark boisterous vocals over searing riffs, this EP echoes their recent "The Beating Of The Wings Of Destruction" 12" by exploding on the B-side into ferocious, fast paced hardcore. Crow's origins date back to the early Japanese punk scene of the 1980s, but they have attacked in the last decade with a renewed intensity, culminating this decade in three US tours and a second album "Bloody Tear" which was released in the U.S. by Prank in 2007. Dark and bleak hardcore cornered in metallic rock, but thundering with determined intent. Fueled by the upbeat energy of Japanese hardcore, but drawing longer mid tempo compositions of shouted despair, pounded drum beats and screaming guitars influenced by UK bands such as Antisect and Amebix, the EP includes a rollicking cover of Amebix's "No Sanctuary." Crow has been on and off the hardcore scene for almost two decades, with numerous releases in Japan. This was their first US release in 2001, recorded in Oakland at Polymorph Studios and has been out of print for over six years, with cover art and design by Carl Auge of His Hero Is Gone and Drain the Sky. The Cover has been re-worked for this re-release and the EP issued on limited to 400 red vinyl.

Bombastic crust-metal from Tokyo, an ultra brutal lightning attack of searing riffs, wild solos, screaming vocals and crushing rhythm section. Bleak intent and searing metallic mayhem, CROW have dotted the landscape of Japanese hardcore punk since its inception and just seem to get more devastating with age!! This is a slightly altered and remastered version of their first full length / second LP since the 1980's with 9 tracks that were originally released by Prank in 2007. Some of the songs are intense re-recorded versions of some of their classic tracks (including their Signature track "Give Up All Hope" that has been covered by numerous bands including the UK"s legendary Doom) as well as new recordings of songs from their recent ultra- limited Japanese releases. This is the official vinyl release of this LP, which was released as a CD-only on the Mangrove label in Japan. The LP sequence has slight variations in both track listing and mixes. CROW are touring in California and appearing at the "Chaos in Tejas" Festival in May. 1000 made / available for a limited time only.

IRON LUNG will be playing the Pre-party for Maryland Deathfest and then what can only be described as the "prankfast" at 11 AM in the morning the saturday of Chaos in Tejas at thunderbird coffee with Acephalix.

Iron Lung have Tenative plans to tour the west coast with SLICES this summer and a short tour of continental Europe. Prank will be working with 625 Thrash to re-press their Debut LP and also be re-pressing "sexless / No sex".

Out on the Record hunt this morning, Digging through a pile of 78's, I found the article below from the San Francisco Call Bulletin From Nearly 60 years ago- January 30, 1951 about William Melander's Record Exchange which used to be in Downtown San Francisco's Tenderloin Neighborhood ( and now, apparently is either an apartment building or a parking lot)-one of San Francisco's legendary first used record stores- Anyway, Since tomorrow is "record store Day" ( and Prank has no exclusive releases , but if you're out anyway look for the new ICE NINE and DESOLATION records!) ICE NINE from Indianapolis, Indiana represented everything that was great about resurgent extreme hardcore of the 1990's- a experimental willingness to throw anything against the wall to make it's point, incorporating the straight forward attack of 80's hardcore but pulverizing formula through burly Low end down beat, intensely Frenetic drumming, swirling guitar leads and the fragmentary Midwest stop and start twists. A Uniquely Original band like their contemporaries HIS HERO IS GONE, IN/HUMANITY, END OF THE CENTURY PARTY and with a sound way ahead of the same stop-melody-start-grind that became popular in the late nineties / early 00's by half a decade, Prank was originally slated to release an LP by ICE NINE in 1996, but the band broke up before it was recorded. Band members went on to play in TIME IN MALTA, BURN IT DOWN, MAHJAS, THE PROBLEMATICS, YOU WILL DIE and THE DREAM IS DEAD. A successful CD collection of ICE NINE's material from the Bovine, Ebullition, Rhetoric labels was released on Happy Couples Never Last in 2004 and in 2009, the band reunited with all original members to play Indianapolis's DUDEFEST. The response was so phenomenal ICE NINE wrote three new tracks that pick up right where they left off. Mastered by George horn with a cover by Bob Peele ( {mag] Fanzine. ICE NINE are currently writing a new album for Prank in 2010.

DESOLATION went on Hiatus shortly after their Self-tilted prank Debut LP of 2005, but return with a new vocalist and three new tracks. Fusing influences of the members previous and current bands-BORN/DEAD, ABRUPT, STRUNG UP, SCURVY DOGS with a marked inspiration from Japanese Hardcore with relentless upbeat energy and searing leads , these are the fastest DESOLATION tracks yet, but still retain the complex song writing and bleak feel of their previous releases. ICE NINE "NOBODY'S SON" 7" OUT APRIL 12TH.

ICE NINE from Indianapolis, Indiana represented everything that was great about resurgent extreme hardcore of the 1990's-

an experimental willingness to throw anything against the wall to make it's point, incorporating the straight forward attack of 80's hardcore but pulverizing formula through burly Low end down beat, intensely Frenetic drumming, swirling guitar leads and the fragmentary Midwest stop and start twists. A Uniquely Original band like their contemporaries HIS HERO IS GONE, IN/HUMANITY, END OF THE CENTURY PARTY and with a sound way ahead of the same stop-melody-start-grind that became popular in the late nineties / early 00's by half a decade, Prank was originally slated to release an LP by ICE NINE in 1996, but the band broke up before it was recorded. Band members went on to play in TIME IN MALTA, BURN IT DOWN, MAHJAS, THE PROBLEMATICS, YOU WILL DIE and THE DREAM IS DEAD. A successful CD collection of ICE NINE's material from the Bovine, Ebullition, Rhetoric labels was released on Happy Couples Never Last in 2004 and in 2009, the band reunited with all original members to play Indianapolis's DUDEFEST. The response was so phenomenal ICE NINE wrote three new tracks that pick up right where they left off. Mastered by George horn with a cover by Bob Peele ( {mag] Fanzine. ICE NINE are currently writing a new album for Prank in 2010.

Punk about town Anandi got diagnosed with Cancer last year, a long time fixture of the local scene, it was pretty devastating news to hear as She's super young for that to happen. Was over at Thrillhouse today and they were happy to report She was responding well to treatment, but also that people have organized a super benefit for her at 924 gilman on February 12th. The last time the Headliner of the Benefit played Gilman, people apparently started camping out a 5:30 AM, so I'll leave that to word of Mouth, but Grass Widow, Fleabag, Dirty Marquee and the Mutoid Men are playing And it's a great cause!!! See you there!! Get well soon Anandi!
